- Below is a list of Canadian playwrights lifted from Wikipedia. Am I allowed to do that? Harper will tell me. (I can't get rid of these bullets. I tend to know the French Canadian ones best. Colleen Curran isn't there, and plenty of others are left out too, I imagine. I recognize Rick Salutin. I've read many of his articles over the years and they stand out as he is an exceptional writer and he has an exceptional mind.
- My play Milk and Water is about Montreal in 1927 and features a talk between Jules Crepeau, my grandfather and Director of Services and Thomas Wells, my husband's grandfather, President of Laurentian Spring Water. The two men discuss ethics, business family and the human right to drink clean fresh water.
- I just Mary Anne Macdonald's book, that takes place in the 1910 era, like Threshold Girl. There would be more Canadian playwrights on this list if we had a radio channel like BBC Radio Four. I've heard many a splendid established or new playwright on that station over the past 6 years. Ever since it came online. BRILLIANT stuff. Mind-blowing.
- Marcy Kahan, I think it's spelled, is a regular contributor and she's from Montreal, I seem to remember. Yes, here's her bit from WIKIPEDIA.to: navigation, searchMarcy Kahan (born 4 July) is a British playwright and radio dramatist, who is half-Canadian and half-American.[1][2] She is a prolific author of urbane comedies for the BBC. She was born in Montreal, educated at Oxford University and trained in theatre in Paris with the Lecoq School teachers, Philippe Gaulier and Monika Pagneux. I used her line "I give myself permission to write the worst first draft in history, as the first pose in my blog Flo in the City. She was my inspiration with Nella Last of Nella Last's War and Peace and 50's.
